Malota Orphans & Vulnerable Children Organisation

Livingstone, Zambia, P.0.Box  60964, Southern Africa

Our organisation came into being on 7thFebruary 1998 after the realisation of the death rate due to HIV/AIDS within our community leaving behind orphans and also the chronically ill patients due to pandemic HIV/AIDS contributing to the increase in the number of the vulnerable children. In our catchments area, we have an average of 5-6 deaths in a week leaving behind at least 3 to 4 children per household as orphans~ Our catchments area covers Malota, Zesco and Burtone with a population of over 400,000 people.

These Children urgently need sponsorship for their basic needs and education. If you are willing to support one by monthly direct debit a donation of  $20 per month would be sufficient for their clothing, schooling & food.

Out off the three compounds our last research showed that we have at least 633 orphans and vulnerable and out of these 21 have lost both parents, while 16 are badly affected in that apart from losing both parents they are being looked after by the aged who can't afford to provide them with anything. Their age group range between 4 and 11 years. We feel this group really needs our support.

Within our catchment area we have other community based organisations that we are working with to ease problems affecting the Orphans & vulnerable Children such as those listed below:-
